Narrative visualization in HR is the discipline of discovering and communicating your fundamental story. In business and HR your story is your framework for decision making and one that relies more and more on insights derived from visualization of your big data.
In general, sunlight is a great disinfectant. But, as the walls of the organization become transparent, what happens behind the walls has too change. What other explanation could there possibly be for things like the Candidate Experience movement.
One of the keys to the successful use of insights derived from big data is the visualization of that data. To say that the science is primitive is to overstate the progress we’ve made. Still, the only way to consume big data is through visuals.

As we learn to ask the right questions and learn to ask the ones we think are impossible, the magic of measuring will become clearer. Meanwhile, tons of companies will be aggregating the data about our employees and offering to sell it back to us.

Last week, I spent a day in Nashville with the 100 brightest minds in graphic and narrative visualization. The subject is important to HR and the rest of the organization. As we get buried in massive volumes of information, graphic and narrative visualization techniques are the keys to survival.
