Thought For The Day: The society is more bankrupt than the financial system.

  • What battered newsrooms can learn from Stewart’s CNBC takedown1) Great research trumps good access to the powerful

    2) The American public is mad as hell right now, so why isn’t the mainstream media?

    3) Tear down this wall…of pretending that the media itself isn’t a major player in American society, and isn’t a factor in most big stories.

    4) The First Amendment doesn’t say anything about not being funny, or not being passionate.

Our industry needs more of Stewart’s energy.

  • Talent Relationship Management — Social Networking Meets Talent Management in the Talent Relationship Lifecycle
The interesting thing about the “enterprise space” is that it is such a minor portion of the economy. (Enterprise space is consultant speak for “Fortune 2500”). The budgets are large, decision making is glacial and innovation is usually the enemy. Being the ‘analyst’ who covers that beat is a  thankless job. It’s really cool when someone like Jim Holincheck  gets a chance to actually see into the future. It’s a challenging feat from that position. Nice work.
  • Facebook Age Distribution
I’m hungry for any statistics that help focus my understanding of the emergent culture. It’s funny that Baby Boomers, who practically invented youth culture, are having such a hard time being on the other end of it. Social Networking tools are already the preferred method of communication in the under 30 set.
  • Letter From Gen Y
The Brazen Careerist is a leading voice in the changing of the guard. Penelope Trunk is saying and publishing things that would make Abbie Hoffman proud. “Who’s going to have to fix this mess? Generation Y, or the generations that come after us. So for all the criticism we recieve,  we’d hope you’d have a little faith in us, or else why would you be placing this huge burden upon our shoulders?

I’m on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Friendfeed. Catch up with me.
