In The Know v1.07 (A weekly list of links to five important ideas)

Tech Impact and End Of Year Lists

  • Mobile Internet Repor
From Morgan Stanley. Read the whole thing, look at the overview or digest the 700 slide presentation. Mobile is going to transform and keep on transforming your organization, the nature of work, and the fundamental employment contract. Social Networking, Video Communication, and astonishing devices will propel the technology. Note that the rest of the world is seriously more advanced than the US.
  • Ignite
Ignite is a series of events produced by the amazing genuiuses at O’Reilly. The series features presentations that are limited to five minutes and 20 slides. Slides are automatically advanced every 15 seconds. The net result is spectacular and entertaining presentations that get right to the point. The reason to pay attention to the phenomenon is that this is the spearhead of the anti-Powerpoint movement. Disciplined presenttions that get to the meat and then stop are the wave of the future. Great leadership involves knowing what to say and what not to say. These days, it’s mostly what not to say.
  • Walt Disney’s Org Chart
From the 1940s. This org chart attempted to describe the way that things got done rather than who was in charge. Could you do this at your company 70 years later?
  • In The Open
Fabulous discussion started by a Googler on the importsnce of open platforms. The approach will spread into HR, the question is not when but how.
  • Women In Technology: The Year In Review
Pointers to great work including this video series (I am a Technical Woman).
