On The Go v1.06 Key Moves In The HR Space

  • Todd C. McCarty is the new senior VP for human resources at the New York Times Company. McCarty, 43, was senior vice president for global human resources at the Reader’s Digest Association, which he joined in 2008. From 2005 to 2008, he was senior vice president for human resources at the Rite Aid Corporation. From 2000 to 2005, he served as senior vice president for North American human resources at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, and from 1992 to 2000 he held various positions with the Frito-Lay Company, a division of PepsiCo. Mr. McCarty started his career with the Quaker Oats Company in 1989. He is also a director of the Bon-Ton Stores.
  • Connie Pautz was promoted to vice president of human resources of Hutchinson Technology Inc. In this position, Pautz will be responsible for strategy and delivery of all human resources activities as well as corporate communications.
  • Ceree Eberly, a 19 year company veteran, is CocaCola’s new chief people officer. She succeeds Cynthia McCague, who is retiring from the Company after 28 years. She joined the Company in 1990, serving in staffing, compensation and other important roles, supporting business units around the world and as as group human resources director for Europe. She was human resources director for the Latin Center Business Unit and vice president of the McDonald’s Division.
  • Melissa Anderson is now Senior VP of Human Resources Domtar Corporation. She will assume the position on January 25, 2010. She will be responsible for all human resources activities throughout the company.
  • CVS Caremark apointed Lisa Bisaccia as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. Prior to joining CVS Caremark, Bisaccia held a senior human resources position with FleetBoston Financial as the head of compensation and benefits. Her prior experience also includes human resource consulting in the banking, health care and not-for-profit business segments. She is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford and earned her MBA from the University of Connecticut. Bisaccia is a member of the Human Resources Policy Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management.
  • E-Chx Inc. has appointed former Paychex Inc. vice president Tony Tortorella as its president and CEO. Tortorella had served as vice president for sales for the human resources division of Paychex until leaving the company this year. He played a key role in founding and developing the human resources services division at Paychex.
  • Eaton Corporation has appointed James W McGill as the company’s new executive vice president and chief human resources officer. McGill succeeds Susan J Cook, who will assume responsibility for the company’s new World Headquarters (WHQ) project as vice president, Strategic Facilities Planning. Prior to this posting, McGill served as president – Asia-Pacific Region, before which he was the vice president of Eaton Business System. He has been with Eaton since 1994.
  • At least 65 current and former human-resources managers serve as outside directors on 101 boards, a Wall Street Journal analysis found. “Ten years ago, the number would have been no more than a half dozen,” estimates Harold E. Johnson, a managing director of recruiting firm Korn/Ferry International who specializes in HR.
