Thought For The Day:People Matter, Objects Don’t.

  • Nurse magnets
How employment branding is done for nurses in hospitals. Some hospitals are certified as nurse magnets. They adhere to 14 distinct principles. It makes them better places to work than other hospitals. Great combination of certification and employment branding.  ““A magnet hospital is a whole different environment, because the nurses make different choices. They’re choices that lead to an environment of excellence.”
  • Zapoint is unique.
Resume visualization tool (LifeChart) is groundbreaking. Showing skills and accomplishments as a set of visuals speeds the Resume review process. Now to solve that tricky problem of getting everyone to use it.
  • Bill Kutik hosts a webinar panel on Workday’s new offering.
If you’re enterprisey, make time for this. Dave Duffield’s new software company is coming out of the closet.
  • National Median Wage Rises
It’s silly to think that the ‘national median wage’ is a useful piece of information. When the cost of living varies by 50% to75%, the statistic doesn’t tell you anything. If the median salary went up recently, cheapest it’s because more lower paid people got the axe.
  • Unrealistic?
Only 28% of employees expect to retire later than planned, 72% plan on the same age/earlier. Hmmm. I guess their 401Ks didn’t decline in value by 65%. Or, more likely, they haven’t faced the truth just yet. This does not bode well for a recovery. NAtional denial is a problem.
