This piece is a part of a larger offering by PBS called MediaShift. While it purports to be a survey of business models (and, it IS the best of its type), it offers something more like a survey of strategies that have failed. The essence of a "business model" is the value delivered to customers and the associated cashflow. Big Media starts with the assumption that what they have been doing meets that criteria in spite of decades of loss. Having PBS report on the media revolution is like having Polaroid do a photo essay on digital imaging or having Disney addShigeru Miyamoto‘s work to an Epcott Center display.
